What are they?
Invisible aligners are an orthodontic treatment that corrects issues affecting the alignment and bite of the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, aligners are characterized by being removable —so you can take them out to eat— and transparent —so they correct the position of your teeth discreetly—.
Invisible aligners are custom-made for each patient and are changed approximately every 10-14 days. This way, each set of aligners carries out the movements planned by the specialist.
Invisible aligners are suitable for both adults and teenagers. In either case, they help solve the main dental malocclusions: crowding, overbite, diastemas (gaps between teeth), open bite, crossbite, etc.
Advantages of invisible aligners
Comfortable. Thin, flexible, and custom-made, with no wires to irritate the mouth.
Removable. They are taken out to eat and brush, although they must be worn 22 hours a day.
Hygienic. By being removable, they make brushing easier and reduce the risk of cavities and gingivitis.
Less restrictive with diet. They allow you to eat anything, with no forbidden foods like with braces.
Fewer visits to the orthodontist. The patient changes the aligners at home and emergencies rarely arise.

Crowding
Dental crowding occurs when there isn't enough space in the gum and teeth overlap each other. Having overlapping teeth creates both an aesthetic and a health problem, as it can lead to cavities, bad breath, tartar, gum inflammation, or occlusion problems.
Diastemas
Diastemas, or gapped teeth, in addition to being an aesthetic problem, can trigger health issues. Gaps between teeth promote the wear of the gums and bone structure. They can also cause discomfort when eating and make it easier for plaque to build up between the teeth, meaning they increase the risk of cavities.
Bite problems
There are different types of bite problems, such as overbite, open bite, crossbite, or edge-to-edge bite. Each one can trigger different issues. Among the most common, we highlight functional or speech problems, gum inflammation, bad breath, or pain in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
