What are they?
Dental veneers are thin ceramic shells that are placed on the front of the teeth and allow us to improve different aspects of dental aesthetics, such as the shape or anatomy of the teeth, the color, and even the position.
It is a cosmetic dental treatment that harmonizes the smile, very useful for concealing tooth discoloration defects and wear or fractures that may occur over time.

How are dental veneers placed?
Before talking about the process, it's worth knowing that there are several types of veneers: composite, lithium disilicate (Emax) and zirconia (now out of use). At wiloo we work with disilicate veneers because they're the ones that perform best in the long term: the ceramic is harder than enamel itself, it keeps a natural white with a certain translucency and withstands changes in staining very well.
The treatment begins with a general check-up of your oral health. If cavities, tartar, or other issues appear, they are treated first. We then carry out a photographic study and, using the Digital Smile Design software, define the shape, size, and color so you can see a preview of the result before starting. Next, the tooth is prepared, a mold is taken with a digital scanner, and temporary veneers are placed while the final ones are being made. About five days later, the temporaries are removed and the ceramic veneers are cemented in place.
Porcelain veneers can last more than 20 years in good condition, always depending on the patient's care and habits. The ones we place at wiloo are less than a millimeter thick, which makes them virtually imperceptible once in place.
